Annual Celebration Luncheon
Every May, this fundraiser celebrates the unsung heroes of the Sanford community who have generously given their time and energy through volunteer work. Honorees are recognized with awards like Trailblazer, Legacy, Humanitarian, Pioneer, and Youth in Motion. Their achievements are honored each year at a special luncheon dedicated to recognizing their contributions.
Goldsboro-Fest
The Annual Celebration in the City of Sanford has been a tradition for four years, honoring the history of Goldsboro and its many accomplishments with food, music, games, and prizes. Each October, residents, community leaders, and local law enforcement come together to enjoy fellowship and strengthen relationships. The event also offers families access to a free library and connects them with community resource agencies that provide healthcare, educational opportunities, and support from local food banks.
Family Game Night
New Fundraising effort designed to foster healthy relationship with families and develop cohesiveness. It was determined that age-appropriate games can help children to think strategically, solve problems creatively, work on pattern recognition and build simple math skills. They also help children develop social skills such as following rules, taking turns, and graceful winning or losing. Game night allows families to unwind and have fun with the community and build relationships within the community as well as strengthen families. This event is held in April at the Dr. Velma Hayes Williams Community center.
Sistas Slumber Party
Held once a year during the summer at the Dr. Velma Hayes Williams Westside Community Center, slumber parties are a rite of passage toward independence. They’re also a way to discover that your closest friends are the ones who will stick by you through the night, in both good times and bad, forming a small but strong family that’s always there for you. Sleepovers create a space where you can connect with peers, share your thoughts, secrets, and fears openly—something that’s become a rare experience for many teenagers today.
Boys 2 Men Social
This annual May event, now in its fourth year, is a collaboration between the Council, MBK-Sanford, the City of Sanford, local law enforcement, churches, Seminole County Public Schools, business leaders, and community figures. Its goal is to bring men together to bridge gaps in the community, offering hope and opportunities for a better quality of life. The gathering showcases unity and shared purpose, featuring youth and adult speakers in a lively, welcoming atmosphere. Participants will leave with a clearer sense of purpose, belonging, and optimism about becoming positive, productive citizens. It’s another step toward fostering peace, unity, community engagement, and positive relationships with law enforcement.
