Goldsboro H.O.P.E.
(Health Opportunities Prevention and Education)
The GHOPE program, funded by a grant from the Fathers Table Foundation in 2021, aims to expand youth services in the community by offering free after-school tutoring, along with continuing the Pre-Collegiate and mentoring programs. Teachers lead tutoring sessions Monday through Thursday, covering academic subjects, as well as ACT, SAT, and ASVAB prep. In the spring, students visit colleges and universities, and during the summer, they take part in a paid internship program, tour campuses, and enjoy cultural activities. Another initiative, the RAP (Reading Acceleration Program), is run by a reading specialist and 5 to 8 trained volunteers to help K–2nd grade students with sight words, reading fluency, and literacy for 30 minutes a day.
